I'll be the first to admit that I've done a horrendous job at posting on Graspr's blog. I talked about doing it for a long time. And I felt guilty when I didn't. So, I stopped talking about it.
Hmm.. I wonder why I don't make blogging a priority. I read a lot of other people's blogs. I often search blogs for market data and marketplace buzz. And I certainly have big vision and loads of enthusiasm for Graspr. I do think the blogging culture can be mean-spirited and petty in some corners, but I don't think that has dissuaded me from blogging. I will admit that the informal, stream-of-consciousness, whatever-I-write-is-there-forever nature of blogging gives me some pause.
But most of all, I'm wondering if corporate blogs matter? Could a company's blog influence you enough to attract you to the company or keep you from coming back? What does a company's blog tell you about the company, its CEO, culture, and probability of success? Does it matter to you?
Would love to hear your thoughts...
Thanks!
Teresa Phillips
Corporate blogs do matter. A blog indicates the personality of a company, which is important when you are trying to attract people to embed and contribute content (and hire employees). It also provides a quick and easy way to highlight success stories, tell people about updates to your website or services, and generally get the word out in a lightweight way. If you can develop a following for your blog, it ends up being very cheap marketing.
Besides, how are you gonna be a Web 2.0 company without a blog?
