One of our most prolific producers, Tim Carter , predicts that a "green tsunami of cash" will wash across web sites with great video content, once there's an a acceptable standard for online video advertising. One of the things I like about Tim is his attitude of abundance. Tim once encouraged a friend to produce home improvement videos because he didn't think he'd be able to cover all the worthwhile topics in his lifetime. And he often advises me or someone else on the Graspr team to collaborate with our competitors to drive more adoption. Tim's vast collection of videos reflects his belief that the tsunami will be large enough to drench us all! Tim's collaborative, win-win mentality is refreshing.
I agree the demand for high-quality content will only increase. Why? Because
it attracts audience - the coveted prey prize of advertisers. As Tim
points out, distribution is also part of the success equation. I would add two additional
multipliers: targeted reach and context. Demographic concentration equals more ad dollars. And
content delivered in context greatly increases user engagement.
At Graspr, we're beginning to see signs of upload fatigue among producers. Whereas content producers once uploaded their videos to many sites, some are now selectively looking for business partners who can help them build their brands, drive traffic to their sites, or monetize their videos. Producers have begun to realize that broad distribution doesn't necessarily translate into business opportunity.
We’re excited about working with Tim and hundreds of other subject matter experts to help them reach their business goals and join them in catching the big wave!
